Since 1978 Wenzel Associates
has defined the state-of-the-art in ultra-low phase noise
crystal oscillators. Wenzel also provides innovative system
components from our Blue Tops line, as well as very low noise
frequency sources and synthesizers.
Wenzel Associates produces over
15,000 oscillators per year for commercial markets. Wenzel’s
precise, low noise signals are the basis for many up/down
converters, frequency counters and cellular base stations.
Agilent and Aeroflex continue to use Wenzel’s production
oscillators exclusively in their phase noise measurement test
sets.
Approximately one half of
Wenzel's products are Hi-Rel parts, built for radar systems,
military radios and space applications. Wenzel is the sole
source manufacturer of the master oscillator for Lockheed’s
Apache Longbow Fire Control Radar, the Fast Switching Local
Oscillator for Northrop Grumman’s EA-18 jamming radar and the
JSF and F-16 radar systems’ Master Reference Oscillators.
Multiple frequency, rack mounted sources and synthesizers outfit
testing labs for production radar systems and are part of the US
missile defense system around the world. We are very proud to
have been selected for several key components in the National
Radio Astronomy Observatory's ALMA telescope array, under
construction in Chile.
Wenzel Associates is currently
building oscillators for the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter for
NASA and Northrop Grumman, the Aquarius sea surveyor for Artemis
and NASA, and the TACSAT-4 for NRL. We are also building a GHz
synthesizer for the Mars Science Laboratory's landing radar for
JPL. Wenzel's space heritage includes oscillators for the Mars
Lander for JPL, the NEAR Earth Asteroid Rendezvous Satellite for
Johns Hopkins APL and recently for Northrop Grumman and NASA for
the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite
System (NPOESS).
In March of 2006, Wenzel
completed its purchase of Croven Crystals, the premier
manufacturer of high performance crystals, bringing 50 years of
crystal making experience to Wenzel. Croven has participated in
countless special projects for military and space customers and
has complete in-house testing and manufacturing capabilities to
produce MIL-PRF-3098 crystals. Croven is located in its own
26,000 square foot facility in Whitby, Ontario.
Wenzel Associates' 52,000
square foot facility in Austin, Texas, houses engineering, test,
marketing and production. Shock, vibration, temperature,
thermal-shock, altitude and thermo-vacuum testing are available
in-house. Wenzel Associates. Inc. is a small woman-owned
company. The company is
located
in a 52,000 square foot facility in Austin, Texas.
